Max Payne 1 revolve centers on Max Payne the detective of the police. In connection to a drug trafficking case, he attempts to solve his daughter’s and wife’s murder. While doing this case, Max is entangled in a complex and large conspiracy. This conspiracy involves a secret society, the U.S military, various organized crime syndicates, and a big pharmaceutical company. It uses graphic novel panels and features neo-noir style gritty. Voiceovers are the primary means of telling the story. It also contains many allusions to the myth of Ragnarök. The gameplay was influenced by the work of Hong Kong director John Woo.
Max Payne 1 is one of the first games to feature The Matrix which is the bullet-time effect. At the start, the player is armed with a 9mm pistol only. When the game continues players also get other weapons. By taking painkillers Max can gain health after hurting. Progress through levels is linear, sometimes incorporating puzzle-solving and platforming elements. All in all, this is a fantastic game to play.
